Veterans Affairs Canada Assessments

Support for CAF and RCMP Members — Past and Present

Current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) often face mental health challenges that are distinct from those of the general population.

Because of your service, you may be eligible for Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) benefits to support your mental health, including conditions such as trauma, depression, and anxiety. To access these benefits, a psychological assessment is required as part of your application.

A VAC assessment not only supports your claim — it also helps clarify your experiences and can serve as a first step toward a personalized path forward.

Steps to Get Started:

  1. Log in to your My VAC Account.

  2. Submit your application.

  3. Book an appointment with a psychologist to complete your Medical Questionnaire assessment when you get your letter from VAC requesting this.
